Saint Demetrios Food Bank
Saint Demetrios Food Bank first opened its doors in 2020 providing a valuable lifeline to many underprivileged members of the local community. Under the guidance of the parish clergy and the Church Committee, St Demetrios has partnered with The Felix Project, The Enfield Food Alliance & Enfield Council to set up a weekly food bank.
Operating from the Church grounds each Saturday between 12:00 & 14:00 the volunteers distribute food, clothing, and other necessities to the local community. Over 150 families are catered for each week and in the winter months a soup kitchen is also provided. Additionally, the young adults of the parish occasionally raise funds with which they purchase & distribute food, blankets, and other necessities – delivering these to the homeless in Central London. In the winter months the community hall is also used to cater for over 150 residents providing them with warm meals. None of this would be possible without our dedicated volunteers.
However, help is always needed! If you are interested in giving up a couple of hours of your time on Saturdays or you know of someone who is in need, please contact us on foodbank@stdemetrios.org.uk
